While Joshua Tree National Park is only 2 hours away from Los Angeles, it feels like a completely different world. We had the opportunity to check out this national park while on a Southern California road trip. You can see the entire park in a day, but I recommend taking your time and spreading it out over 2 days. These are the top spots you shouldn’t miss on your trip to Joshua Tree National Park.

There are many national parks in the United States, but none quite like Mesa Verde National Park. It does have amazing scenery, but the thing that makes this park unique versus the other parks is that it allows you to explore a civilization that lived here thousands of years ago.

The Redwoods National and State Parks on the Northern California coast is just one of the national parks within California and it is unique because it is one of the only places in the world to see the amazing Coastal Redwoods. The best way to see these redwoods is to walk among them to experience how enormous they are. There are day hikes for experienced hikers, but here we are going to go over some of the best beginner hikes of the Redwoods National and State Parks.

Yosemite National Park is just one of the amazing National Parks that California has to offer. It is filled with jaw-dropping rock formations, waterfalls, and Giant Sequoia Trees. There is much to do in this park, but with a long weekend you are able to see the majority of the park. Have more time? Then you should consider going on one of the longer hikes. If you only have one day, focus your time on the valley floor.

Yellowstone was America’s first National Park and in my opinion, is one of the best. No matter whether you have 1 day here or 1 week, it is impossible to see and do everything at Yellowstone. I have been here three times now, spending almost a week each time and I still haven’t seen everything. Despite the fact that the North Cascades National Park is one of the least visited national parks, this park has a lot to offer and is often underrated. Made up of countless mountains and nearly 500 lakes, it offers spectacular scenery. Whether you want to go on a few mile hike, or prefer not to walk more than a few hundred feet from the car; North Cascades offers something for everyone.

The Redwoods National and State Parks on the Northern California coast is just one of the National Parks within California that offers massive redwood trees, hiking, and scenic drives. This national park is unique because it is made up of multiple different parks within a large area rather than one specific park. Typically Jedediah Smith Redwoods, Del Norte Coast Redwoods, Prairie Creek Redwoods State Parks, and Redwood National Park are thought to make up the collection of the Redwoods National and State Parks. Although the Humbodlt Redwoods State park is not technically within this park system, it is a great area to see Redwoods and is about an hour south and I will include it in my things to do. Even though there are multiple different parks to see, you can still see most of the parks in just a few days.
